Why I Started Guiding Foreign Visitors in Nagasaki

I’ve always been a passionate traveler — I’ve visited 45 countries so far. Whenever I travel, I usually hire a local guide because I believe that’s the best way to truly understand a country. Through the guide’s stories and insights, I’ve always felt more connected to the place, its people, and its culture. Those experiences made my travels deeply satisfying and memorable.

I was born and raised in Nagasaki, and I’ve always loved this city. During my years abroad — six years in Cambodia, two and a half years in Portugal, and one year in the United States — I was exposed to many different cultures and lifestyles. Living overseas taught me a lot, but it also helped me rediscover the beauty of Japan — its subtlety, kindness, seasonal changes, and rich traditions.

That’s why I decided to start guiding foreign visitors in Nagasaki. I want to share the beauty of my hometown and help travelers experience Japan through local eyes — to feel the warmth of its people, the depth of its history, and the charm of its culture. My goal is to make every guest think, “Japan is truly a wonderful country.”
