Welcome to Nagasaki Private Tours

Hello, my name is Hiro, and I am the founder of Nagasaki Private Tours. I’m a 52-year-old travel enthusiast who has visited more than 45 countries and lived abroad for many years — six years in Cambodia and two and a half years in Portugal. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for cultural exchange, international friendships, and the joy of discovering hidden gems through the eyes of locals.

Despite my years overseas, my heart has always belonged to Nagasaki, the city where I was born and raised. Nagasaki is unlike any other place in Japan — a port city with a fascinating mix of Japanese, European, and Chinese influences, a tragic yet important history, and an abundance of fresh seafood that I absolutely love.

Why I Started Nagasaki Private Tours

During my travels, I realized that the best way to experience a city is with a local guide who knows the stories, history, and culture beyond the guidebooks. When I returned to Nagasaki, I noticed a challenge for visitors:

  • Walking tours often cover only a limited area and take a lot of time, meaning you miss many highlights.

  • For families with elderly members or small children, Nagasaki’s steep hills and long distances from tram stops to major sights can make walking very tiring.

  • In the hot summer sun or cold winter winds, walking tours can feel exhausting and reduce overall enjoyment.

That’s why I decided to create private car tours of Nagasaki. With a car, guests can explore comfortably, efficiently, and without physical stress. This way, you don’t waste energy walking long distances, and you can focus on enjoying the sights. My mission is to ensure every guest experiences the true highlights of Nagasaki in comfort and with the personal touch of a local guide.

My Mission and Vision

The mission of Nagasaki Private Tours is simple:

  • To offer efficient, comfortable, and personalized sightseeing with a private car.

  • To help guests experience the essence of Nagasaki — its history, culture, landscapes, and cuisine — even in a limited amount of time.

Currently, I provide two types of tours:

  • Nagasaki City Highlights Tours (half-day or full-day) where you can explore places like Peace Park, Oura Cathedral, Glover Garden, and Mount Inasa.

  • Unzen “Hell” & Hot Springs Adventure, a separate day trip to southern Nagasaki Prefecture. (Please note: this cannot be combined with Nagasaki city sightseeing in one day due to travel distance.)

My vision is to make Nagasaki not just a stopover, but a place that leaves a lasting impression on every traveler. Whether it’s learning about Nagasaki’s history, enjoying breathtaking views, or tasting local specialties, I want every guest to return home with unforgettable memories.

If you are planning a trip to Japan and want to experience Nagasaki with a friendly, English-speaking local guide, I would be delighted to welcome you. Let’s explore this beautiful city together — efficiently, comfortably, and with plenty of stories to share.
