A cloudy-day alternative: history, art, and a local lunch

If the mountain is likely to remain hidden, we can shape the day around Shizuoka’s history and food instead. In a short shore call, we prioritise one or two places rather than rushing through all of them.

Toro Site: Japan’s Yayoi-period story

Toro Site is a nationally designated Special Historic Site where visitors can see reconstructions of a Yayoi-period settlement and rice fields. It is a calm, meaningful choice for guests who enjoy archaeology and daily life in ancient Japan.

Lunch at Shimizu Fish Market Kashinoichi

For lunch, we recommend Shimizu Fish Market Kashinoichi, close to the port. Enjoy Shimizu’s seafood culture with tuna bowls, sushi, grilled fish, and other local dishes. Meals are not included in the tour price; we choose the restaurant according to opening hours, queue conditions, and your preferences on the day.

Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art

In Yui, the Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art introduces the world of Utagawa Hiroshige and the historic Tokaido road. Important current update: the museum is closed for facilities renewal. The City of Shizuoka currently announces reopening in early April 2027; please check the official museum information again before making plans for a future visit.

If time permits: Sunpu Castle Park

When your ship’s schedule and traffic conditions allow, Sunpu Castle Park can be added as another historical option. The site is closely associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu, who spent his later years in Sunpu.

When the sky clears: our Mt. Fuji route

When conditions are promising, our 4.5-hour private tour can follow a carefully timed route: Shimizu Marine Terminal pickup, Lake Tanuki (FUGAKU Terrace), Shiraito Falls, the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre in Fujinomiya, and return to the terminal with time allowed for departure.

Please note: Mt. Fuji views are weather-dependent and cannot be guaranteed. A private tour lets us adapt the day rather than simply cancelling it because of clouds.
